My First PantoMy father was an actor and my first memory of panto is being taken to see him perform at the Players Theatre in Villiers street in London, in The Princess and the Swineherd by Nicholas Stuart Gray. I was pretty small at the time so I don't remember a lot about it but I do remember vividly the image of the Beast and being both fascinated and terrified by him. I remember the cosy feeling in the theatre watching it and the song sheet coming down at the end and everybody singing. I can also clearly remember the dread of being singled out to come up on the stage and shrinking in my seat so as not to be noticed.
