Critically acclaimed tenor Juan Diego Florez and the LA Philharmonic both return in 2013 for their first Barbican residencies with explosive concerts and a host of creative learning work taking music beyond the concert hall and into the local communities.
We have recitals from world-class artists Elina Garanca, Evgeny Kissin, Magdalena Kozena, Renee Fleming and Maxim Vengerov and welcome back some some of the Barbican's regular performers including Les Arts Florissants and William Christie, The Sixteen with Harry Christophers and Les Talens Lyriques with Christophe Rousset.
In the Autumn, as part of the Barbican's Weekender, we present a multimedia staged performance of Oliver Knussen's Where The Wild Things Are and in November we celebrate the 75th birthday of Philip Glass with two special concerts here and in the intimate surroundings of Union Chapel.
