Join us for a spectacular free fashion performance inspired by blockbuster exhibition Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion.
Disruption is the culmination of a three-month project completed by a talented group of teenagers (our Disruptors) working with the Barbican Centre, London College of Fashion (LCF), and Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
From 6pm enjoy live music by the Barbican’s Creative Learning ensemble FutureBand , who will perform live to an installation of film and photography visuals produced by our creative Disruptors.
The grand finale starts at 6.30pm. Our designers, dancers and musicians will blend hip hop, urban grime, Japanese and East London cultures to deliver an unforgettable performance featuring Boy Blue dancers – wearing bespoke garments, accessories, and headwear designed and produced by our young fashionistas – plus music by experimental group Jetsam and a specially-commissioned structure, created by architecture and interior design practice tp Bennett.
Throughout the night, explore a special exhibition documenting the Disruptors at work revealing their inspiration and the learning involved in the Disruption project.
Plus see The Irrepressibles extravagant evening of visual and sonic flamboyance, live in the Barbican Hall.
