 | Lebbeus Woods trained as an architect and engineer and has worked for Eero Saarinen & Associates and in private practice. In 1976, he turned to theory and experimental projects and co-founded the NY based research Institute for experimental architecture (RIEA). Woods is an accomplished draftsman and his architecture directly questions the form/ function dialectic in architecture, the politics of reconstruction after the ravages of war and the provision of the appropriate types of architecture for areas of natural disaster. His early work dealt with cybernetic metaphysics to posit new ways of living.
