The Arts
The Barbican Centre offers five artforms under one roof. Discover more about the adventurous music, theatre, visual arts, cinema and education programming, which sets the Centre apart as being vibrant, different and international.

Vision
In 1995, most people saw the Barbican as nothing but trouble. John Tusa, who then joined as managing director, saw its huge potential and immediately set about making it the fresh and flexible organisation it is today. Here you can read more about his vision.

When Graham Sheffield arrived in the same year as artistic director, the different art forms remained separate, despite residing under one roof. Here he explains how the barriers were broken down.
